Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend & Can Be a Guy’s, Too

Let me share a secret with all you gentlemen out there. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. Go figure, right? A little bling goes a long way toward melting a lady’s heart, as I learned this weekend for Valentine’s Day.

MAKING VALENTINE’S DAY EXTRA SPECIALDiamond Solitaires Make The Perfect Gift For Her

I wanted to make Valentine’s Day extra special so I made reservations at a nice sushi restaurant in
Santa Monica on Friday night. But, equally came armed with what I hoped was the perfect gift, ¾-carat diamond solitaire earrings, nicely wrapped with a bow.

My wife doesn’t often wear earrings but I knew she’d like what I picked out, at least I hoped. As the lady at the jewelry store said, amid her nice commission, “Every woman loves diamonds.” I was originally looking at necklaces, but the sparkle of the diamond earrings literally caught my eyes.

I instantly recalled that she had told me a while back that one thing she had never had in her life was a set of real diamond solitaire earrings.

WHY PURCHASE DIAMONDS: MOTHERS DO SO MUCH!

She does so much for daughter that the decision to purchase them, despite some initial sticker shock, was a relatively easy one made even easier by the fact that I could stretch out the payments.

I chose ¾ carat diamonds because, well, girls love big diamonds. Personally, I found 1 carat to be a bit much, both in price and sheer size for her small ears. I didn’t want to be ostentatious. And the ¼ carat and ½ carat diamonds were definitely too small to make an impact.

VALENTINE’S GIFT ADVICE FOR MEN

Guys, you can never go wrong with diamonds, whether the bling is on the finger, neck or ears. They don’t need to break the bank either, as many jewelry stores offer 0% interest financing, so you can take six months, a year or even longer to pay them off. Diamonds really are the “forever gift,” and they are the perfect family heirloom to one day pass along to our daughter.
