Organic is a Lifestyle
Organic living takes discipline and purpose, although we don’t always have the follow through. There is no better way to appreciate and practice an organic lifestyle then to make it a point to visit your local farmers market.
I feel really grateful to have a local farmers market that displays its organic goods every Thursday. Veteran’s Park in Redondo Beach hosts one of the better and local family friendly farmers market. Almost all locals attend, especially mammas with their babies–a tribe of stroller’s and little growing humans. I often see nannies with toddlers, but mostly bump into moms taking the stay-at-home to an organic level.
AFFORDABLE ORGANIC PRODUCE
Sometimes as moms we don’t always think that we have the time or the money to invest in organic foods. However, with the trend of organic and green living, fresh foods have become more affordable. There have been a big pesticide-free push in produce, red meats, fish and poultry. I will agree that while organic produce is definitely affordable, meats can be costly.
I’m Not An Organic Fanatic
Depending upon where you live, nearly every grocery store is stocked with some type of
pesticide-free product. Even clothing is now made with pure materials. I don’t take it that far, but I do try to buy organic produce at the very least. Getting out to your farmers market is a great way to get out of the house, get involved in your community, and support local or nearby farms. A community gets together to help each other grow their businesses while promoting healthy organic eating. Most farmers markets have the best fresh fruits and vegetables.
My daughter and I really enjoy going to our local farmers market because there’s so much to experience. Growing toddlers really enjoy taking in their world and being introduced to lively environments. You don’t have to be a health fanatic to enjoy the health benefits of ingesting quality food.
Visiting your local farmers market might be a great place to start shopping for fresh produce. There’s no time than the present to encourage at least more raw fruits and veggies. Some also have quality kosher meats as well as poultry.
Here are a couple of great search tools for finding a farmer’s market near you. Hope you and your little ones have an opportunity to get outdoors in the sunshine and reap the rewards of organic foods.
